Cochise County Sheriff Larry Dever says “Well, I say: Come, bring it on. Let’s cause the international incident,” he said.

I agree.  We are being invaded by a heavily armed, non-governmental militia.  Bring it on.  We have the right to fight back and to protect our territory.  And never forget that this non-governmental militia is NOT covered by the Geneva Conventions.  If Mexico tries to say they are, then Mexico is taking responsibility for invading us and we should declare war on them.  Yep, I said it.  Mexico can't have it both ways.  They are either responsible for the invasion as a country, or they aren't.  If they aren't, then shoot the invaders on sight since they are not covered by the Geneva Conventions.  If they are, then declare war on Mexico and beat the living shit out of them until they decide it's far too dangerous.  Make it such a beating as they will still tell stories of it in whispers for 100 years.
