McCain: Gitmo should be closed because of Abu Ghraib
You can hear it yourself beginning at approximately 7:40 minutes into this video.First of all, Guantanomo Bay is a symbol throughout the world of mistreatment of prisoners ... my friends, it is (oh please! as if McCain saying it is makes it so - Kirls). Let me just tell you a story real quick and you all have a right to disagree. I was in a camp, a prison camp in Iraq with Senator Lindsey Graham who was an Air Force lawyer where we arranged to be met with a former high ranking member of al qaeda. a terrorist, a murderer, and a killer. And in the course of our conversation, I said to him, i said “how did you succeed so well after the initial American invasion?” (wth? succeed so well?? That is a slam on those who were running and fighting the war - kirls) ah, … he said two things.
he said one, after the initial invasion it there was total chaos. Murder, rape, robbery, everything was rampant because you didn’t have control of Iraq. He said the second thing, he said that allowed me to recruit (note the rolling up on his tiptoes here; body language says i told you so…see? – kirls) thousands of young men was abu ghraib (note how he says it with finality and pauses ever so slightly waiting for a reaction which doesn’t come – kirls) because the pictures of the mistreatment of prisoners… people you Americans held prisoner in abu ghraib (and yes, that’s me yelling “terrorists lie” – kirls).
so, my view, we have to have a policy, hopefully return these detainees to either to the country they came from or to put them on trial and keep them in prison for as long as is necessary.
Just one more reason to vote for JD Hayworth for United States Senator from Arizona.

British Bishops promote "Carbon Fast"
Several prominent Anglican British bishops are urging Christians to keep their carbon consumption in check this Lent.
...this year's initiative aims to convince those observing Lent to try a day without an iPod or mobile phone in a bid to reduce the use of electricity — and thus trim the amount of carbon dioxide spewed into the atmosphere.
Bishop of London Rev. Richard Chartres said that the poorest people in developing countries were the hardest hit by man-made climate change.
He said Tuesday that the "Carbon Fast" was "an opportunity to demonstrate the love of God in a practical way."

British tax payer money used to pay masses of climate alarmists
More than £3.5 million has gone on recruiting a worldwide network of young "climate activists" in over 70 countries to engage in climate change propaganda – what Marxists used to call agitprop – and to pressure their politicians to join the worldwide struggle. Under a programme called Challenge Europe, £1.1 million has been paid out to fund young "climate advocates" in 17 countries across Europe, including Britain itself. But £2.5 million has been spent on a more ambitious project to recruit a global network of 100,000 activists in 60 countries across the world, led by 1,300 young "International Climate Champions", to participate in "international peer networks, both in person and online, to share ideas, projects and experiences".
Of this sum, £303,093.24 went to China; £71,262.91 to Brazil; £53,006.25 to Japan; £70,132.88 to India (including £11,000 to Dr Pachauri's Teri institute); £77,507.89 to oil-rich Qatar; and £50,000 to the US. There was £120,000 for a dozen different countries in Africa, including £14,000 to fund climate champions in starving Zimbabwe.
All this, it is comforting to know, is being led by the climate-change activist Dr David Viner, formerly employed by East Anglia's Climatic Research Unit (the focus of the "Climategate" emails scandal), who is most famous for the prediction he made in 2001, that within a few years winter snow would become "a very rare and exciting event". No doubt the climate champions we are funding in the eastern US will have been grateful for our support last week as they tried to explain the several feet of snow across the region which broke records established in the 1880s. What it all has to do with Macbeth or Pride and Prejudice is something of a mystery.

Labor Unions are Anti-Grass Roots
This is just one more reason to despise the unions as I do.
Anti-Tea Party Web Site Part of Scheme to Funnel Funds
By Joseph Abrams
- FOXNews.com
A new Web site targeting the tea parties is a part of a complex network of money flowing from the mountainous coffers of the country's biggest labor unions and trickling slowly into political slush funds for Democratic activists.
A seemingly grassroots organization that's mounted an online campaign to counter the tea party movement is actually the front end of an elaborate scheme that funnels funds -- including sizable labor union contributions -- through the offices of a prominent Democratic party lawyer.
A Web site popped up in January dedicated to preventing the tea party's "radical" and "dangerous" ideas from "gaining legislative traction," targeting GOP candidates in Illinois for the firing squad.
"This movement is a fad," proclaims TheTeaPartyIsOver.org, which was established by the American Public Policy Center (APPC), a D.C.-based campaign shop that few people have ever heard of.
But a close look reveals the APPC's place in a complex network of money flowing from the mountainous coffers of the country's biggest labor unions into political slush funds for Democratic activists.
Here's how it works: What appears like a local groundswell is in fact the creation of two men -- Craig Varoga and George Rakis, Democratic Party strategists who have set up a number of so-called 527 groups, the non-profit election organizations that hammer on contentious issues (think Swift Boats, for example).
Varoga and Rakis keep a central mailing address in Washington, pulling in soft money contributions from unions and other well-padded sources to engage in what amounts to a legal laundering system. The money -- tens of millions of dollars -- gets circulated around to different states by the 527s, which pay for TV ads, Internet campaigns and lobbyist salaries, all while keeping the hands of the unions clean -- for the most part.
The system helps hide the true sources of funding, giving the appearance of locally bred opposition in states from Oklahoma to New Jersey, or in the case of the Tea Party Web site, in Illinois.
And this whitewash is entirely legal, say election law experts, who told FoxNews.com that this arrangement more or less the norm in Washington.
"It's not illegal but it is, I think, dishonest on the part of the organizations," said Paul Ryan, a legal counsel at the Campaign Legal Center. "And there's a reason they do it: they know voters don't like outsiders coming in to sway the vote."
Calls and e-mails to the Maryland-based consultant firm Independent Strategies, run by Varoga and Rakis, were not returned.
Outside of that firm, the center of their activity appears to be a single office in Southeast D.C. -- 300 M Street, Suite 1102 -- which plays host to a sprawling political shell game they have established.
Public records show at least seven political shops listed in Suite 1102, most of which are essentially clones of one another, but all of which have offered money -- from measly thousands to game-changing millions -- in state-level elections across the country:
-The American Public Policy Committee Donations IRS forms
-Patriot Majority Donations IRS forms
-Citizens for Progress Donations IRS forms
-Oklahoma Freedom Fund Donations IRS forms
-Mid Atlantic Leadership Fund Donations IRS forms
-Public Security Now Donations IRS forms
-Pioneer Majority Donations IRS forms
-Bluegrass Freedom Fund Donations IRS forms
The APPC, which developed the anti-tea party ads, has gotten all of its money for 2010 from Patriot Majority and from Citizens for Progress, which is also called Patriot Majority West.
Patriot Majority West sent them $25,000 in January, and Patriot Majority added another $5,000. The groups, both run by Varoga and Rakis, also swap hundreds of thousands of dollars between themselves, money often buttressed by gifts from Patriot Majority Midwest, seen above as the Oklahoma Freedom Fund.
The confusing naming system is intentional, say election law experts, who generally disapprove of the practice.
"I do take issue with and have long complained about groups that shield particular special interests with innocuous-sounding names like ... 'Americans for America,'" said Ryan. "That type of naming of an organization, I believe, is specifically intended to obscure the true sources of funding of special interest groups behind political activity."
These three Patriot Majority groups also send checks to Independent Strategies, the strategy firm run by Varoga and Rakis. And some of the 527s have sent money to VR Strategies, another firm run in part by and named after Varoga.
The most recent backers of the Patriot Majority and Patriot Majority West, which helped fund the APPC and thus the Tea Party site, form a veritable Who's Who of the country's top labor unions: the Service Employees International Union, Change to Win, the Communications Workers of America, the National Education Association, the Teamsters Union, the United Food & Commercial Workers Union and others besides.
But by far the largest donations have come from a collection of unionized government workers, the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME) -- which in 2008 alone donated $5.8 million to Patriot Majority and another $4.1 million to Patriot Majority Midwest.
Using this arrangement, Varoga and Rakis are managing what NPR called a "never-ending pot of union money" that they dispense among the 527s they run, which in turn pay for ads in hotly contested election districts.
That means that taxpayer dollars, sent up as union dues, have been going to fund a host of Democratic causes and help quash the tea party movement.
What's more, Varoga and Rakis are not actually present in Suite 1102. That is the office of their lawyer, Joseph Sandler, a longtime general counsel to the Democratic National Committee.
Sandler, whose firm and trust account raked in over $500,000 in Democratic party money in 2009 alone, told Fox News that there was nothing irregular in their setup.
"That's common practice," said Sandler, a renowned expert on election law who served as general counsel to the Democratic National Committee until February 2009, and whose firm, Sandler Reiff & Young, continues to work for both the Democratic party and numerous left-wing 527 groups.
Sandler noted that political committees and groups are often run by multiple people and don't have a central office, but need a place where they can be in ongoing contact with the IRS and other federal agencies that track election funds.
"It's very common for a law firm to give their address ... as the official address for the organization where correspondence can be received," he said.
It has the effect of confusing the ultimate sources of election funding, but also serves an important practical end, say election law experts.
"As a practical matter there's not a huge universe of lawyers in the United States that know political law all that well and most of them are here in D.C., said Ryan, of the Campaign Legal Center. "It's not uncommon for political organizations to be using lawyers in D.C. or starters, even if they're all over the country."
It is not clear whether TheTeaPartyIsOver.org is the start of a larger campaign run by Varoga and Rakis to target tea party activists. Additional attempts to reach Varoga at a California number were unsuccessful. A staffer answering the phone in Varoga's Oakland office last week told FoxNews.com that he was unavailable for comment and hung up.

Crippled By Compassion
Democrats must be so proud II
Nolan Finley
Commentary: What did John Conyers know? From The Detroit News:
That would be OK if Conyers were a private guy drawing a private paycheck. But he's an elected public official, a Democratic congressman from Detroit, chairman of the House Judiciary Committee. He shouldn't get to decide what he isn't going to talk about when the issue is public corruption.
Rep. Conyers got splashed with his wife's taint this week during the federal bribery trial of her former sidekick, political consultant Sam Riddle. Greektown developer Jim Papas, frequently on the fringes of City Hall muck, testified that he gave Riddle $10,000 to share with Monica Conyers. Papas was looking for help in securing a letter from the congressman in support of his Romulus waste disposal well.
Monica Conyers called her husband's office, and Papas got the letter.

$18 Million of Porkulus found; might actually help
NASA Selects Boeing for American Recovery and Reinvestment Act Award to Study CCDev
"We appreciate this opportunity to advance our crew system design," said Keith Reiley, Boeing CCDev program manager. "This agreement complements our internal efforts to accelerate development of system concepts and capabilities that will ultimately lead to a safe, reliable and cost-effective way to transport humans to low Earth orbit."
"Boeing will research and further develop the system concepts and advance key technologies that are applicable to a capsule-based crew transport system. The company will develop the overall system definition, and also perform demonstration testing on life support, avionics, landing systems and other critical subsystems, primarily at sites in Texas, California and Nevada," Boeing Company informs.
Boeing's crew module concept will be based on previous company efforts. It will be compatible with multiple launch vehicles and configurable to carry a mixture of crew and cargo on short-duration missions to and from the International Space Station, orbital habitats by Bigelow Aerospace and other future destinations in low Earth orbit. The size of the system is expected to be larger than the Apollo-era space capsule.
As part of the Boeing CCDev team, Las Vegas-based Bigelow Aerospace will provide requirements for crew transportation to support its planned Orbital Space Complex, as well as additional investment and expertise in testing and validating the technologies necessary to construct and deploy the complex.
"We're excited about this program and the Boeing partnership in general. Boeing brings with it unparalleled experience and expertise in human spaceflight systems, which will be combined with Bigelow Aerospace's entrepreneurial spirit and cost-conscious practices," said Robert T. Bigelow, president and founder of Bigelow Aerospace. "By combining these attributes, this partnership represents the best of both worlds."
NASA is using funds from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 to fund its Space Act Agreements. By maturing the design and development of commercial crew spaceflight concepts and associated enabling technologies and capabilities, the CCDev program allows companies to move toward full demonstration of commercial human spaceflight to low Earth orbit.

Haiti aftermath: incompetence
Journal: Haiti–A Special Forces Sergeant Major Reports Our National Crime Against Humanity in Haiti
Port o Prince is in ruins. The rest of the country is fairly intact. Our team was a rescue team and we carried special equipment that locates people buried under the rubble.
There are easily 200,000 dead, the city smells like a charnel house. The bloody UN was there for 5 years doing apparently nothing but wasting US Taxpayers money.
The ones I ran into were either incompetents or outright anti American. Most are French or french speakers, worthless every damn one of them.
While 1800 rescuers were ready willing and able to leave the airport and go do our jobs, the UN and USAID ( another organization full of little OBamites and communists that openly speak against Americana) [REDACTED].
These two organizations exemplified their parochialism by:
USAID, when in control of all inbound flights, had food and water flights stacked up all the way to Miami, yet allowed Geraldo Rivera, Anderson Cooper and a host of other left wing news puppies to land.
Pulled all the security off the rescue teams so that Bill Clinton and his wife could have the grand tour, whilst we sat unable to get to people trapped in the rubble.
Stacked enough food and water for the relief over at the side of the airfield then put a guard on it while we dehydrated and wouldn’t release a drop of it to the rescuers.
No shower facilities to decontaminate after digging or moving corpses all day, except for the FEMA teams who brought their own shower and decon equipment, as well as air conditioned tents.
No latrine facilities, less digging a hole if you set up a shitter everyone was trying to use it.
I watched a 25 year old Obamite with the USAID shrieking hysterically, berate a full bird colonel in the air force, because he countermanded her orders, whilst trying to unscrew the air pattern. ” You don’t know what your president wants! The military isn’t in charge here we are!”
If any of you are thinking of giving money to the Haitian relief, or to the UN don’t waste your money. It will only go to further the goals of the French and the Liberal left.
If we are a fair and even society, why is it that only white couples are adopting Haitian orphans. Where the hell is that vocal minority that is always screaming about the injustice of American society.
Bad place, bad situation, but a perfect look at the new world order in action. New Orleans magnified a thousand times. Haiti doesn’t need democracy, what Haiti needs is Papa Doc. That’s not just my opinion , that is what virtually every Haitian we talked with said. “the French run, the UN treat us the same as when we were a colony”, at least Papa Doc ran the country.
Oh, and as a last slap in the face the last four of us had to take US AIRWAY’s home from Phoenix. They slapped me with a 590 dollar baggage charge for the four of us. The girl at the counter was almost in tears because she couldn’t give us a discount or she would lose her job. Pass that on to the flying public.
Phi Beta Iota: See Journal: Haiti EYES ON Interview with William McNulty. This brings tears to our eyes–this is what we have become because our leaders lack the integrity to do the right things righter. We sounded the alarm on Haiti on 12 January, and it went downhill from there. SHAME on all of us. We’ve worked with the Agency for International Development (AID) and most of them are wizards and multi-cultural to boot. The Obama Administration appears to have its own version of the neoconservatives, let’s call them the neoidiots, and AID evidently put them in charge of Haiti and the US military, to its eternal shame, let them shit all over the first two weeks. Now the U.S. military is declaring victory and leaving Haiti–the Clintons have had their photo op, the hell with 250,000 additional wounded, the million dehydrated and starving, the two million homeless, and the ten million over all that have once again been screwed over in “the Eagle’s Shadow.
If the USA is to have a renaissance rather than a violent overthrow of the government, the US military had better recognize that educating the American public is part of its mission–as Thomas Jefferson put it: A Nation’s best defense is an educated citizenry. We cannot have a smart effective military in a dumb country with neoidiots thinking they are in charge of anything. We cannot have an effective military if SOUTHCOM is getting its ground truth from the media and failing to use every single access point into a country. As the SgtMaj says, this is Katrina magnified a 1000 times.
SOUTHCOM had a chance to shine, it did not–in our judgement, this demonstrates the need for a Stabilization & Reconstruction Command that specializes in Whole of Government operations, the use of Open Source Intelligence (OSINT), in special access to the White House and the Office of Management and Budget (the military could offer to restaff the M that has been vacant for close to twenty years now), and able to do coherent fully-informed planning, programming, and campaigning on a no-notice basis. AFRICOM will not do either, like SOUTHCOM, it is a placeholder, not a change agent.
Incidentally, we’re pretty sure the Administration will not audit the Red Cross and others that looted the public using Haiti as a poster child, because all of those organizations are heavily invested in the two-party system that disconnects the government from both reality and its own public. We trust the military for its discipline and its personal integrity, but right now the military has lost its vision and its institutioinal integrity. IOHO
